Review: So, now I’m out of my teens I usually avoid YA Supernatural novels (Don’t get wrong, I loved Twilight.) but I’d picked up Marked on holiday last year at a borrow and swap library. It is the first novel in the House of Night series, and I found it different to delve into something I wouldn’t usually buy myself.

When Zoey Montgomery gets Marked, she becomes Zoey Redbird, moves to the House of Night, a vampyre finishing school- and prepares to become a fledgling vampyre. However, her Mark is different to her classmates, it’s filled in. Why? What makes her so special? It makes her feel like a freak show because it catches the attention of everyone else. Eventually, Zoey eventually learns to accept her Mark is a gift from the Goddess Nyx. Quite literally.

Of course I found this book slightly….annoying in places. This was down to many reasons: Zoey’s stupid ex, Aphrodite the school bitch, who whined about the littlest of things, the unexplained ghosts and Zoey’s sudden power. However, this is what I expected from this genre of YA novel.

I enjoyed it, but I’m unsure if I’ll acquire the rest of the novels in the series. If anyone would recommend them, please let me know what you thought!

3/5 stars.
I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t my favourite.

  1. Hi! First of all thanks for the follow!
And secondly, you should read this series. I’ve not read the forst two books in the series but I’ve read the last four( I read the first two books’ story online because I couldn’t find the books in my library! ) but they are good (not like Harry Potter, obviously! )
