Book Review : Doctor Who : The Complete History #5

Read between: 19th- 28th May
Format: Hardback
Number of pages: 136
Rating: ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

Review: This book is the first of the Complete History partworks to focus on the 11th incarnation of the Doctor, played by Matt Smith. Included in this issue are two of my favourite episodes: Dinosaurs on a Spaceship and The Power of Three. Both are written by the man who will be the new head writer of DoctorWho, Chris Chibnall.

The reason I love these books is that it’s not only behind the scenes of production and filming, they also tell you about script revisions, original titles and filming locations! It helps to really understand the amount of time and effort that goes into making one individual episode. There’s a lot to do from script to screen and this book, as all, breaks it down into easy to read chunks.

I like that the layout has remained cohesive with the colour coding so the books look like a collection, however, this makes it hard to review each one separately without repeating myself. I’ll try though!

It’s not everyday you’re able to go behind the scenes. For instance, I didn’t know that A Town called Mercy was filmed in Spain. Do now :p

I fly through these books because they’re great for fans of all things Doctor Who. (They’re pretty good for cosplay reference too 😉 )

5 stars!

Thanks for reading
