Read between: 5th-15th November
Format: ebook
Published: February 2010
Publisher: Harper Collins
Synopsis: Skulduggery Pleasant is lost on the other side of a portal, with only some evil gods for company. Can he possibly survive? (Yes, all right, he’s already dead. But still.)

Meet Skulduggery Pleasant: detective, sorcerer, warrior.

Oh yes. And dead.

Skulduggery Pleasant is gone, sucked into a parallel dimension overrun by the Faceless Ones. If his bones haven’t already been turned to dust, chances are he’s insane, driven out of his mind by the horror of the ancient gods. There is no official, Sanctuary-approved rescue mission. There is no official plan to save him.

But Valkyrie’s never had much time for plans.

The problem is, even if she can get Skulduggery back, there might not be much left for him to return to. There’s a gang of villains bent on destroying the Sanctuary, there are some very powerful people who want Valkyrie dead, and as if all that wasn’t enough it looks very likely that a sorcerer named Darquesse is going to kill the world and everyone on it.

Skulduggery is gone. All our hopes rest with Valkyrie. The world’s weight is on her shoulders, and its fate is in her hands.

These are dark days indeed.

Rating: Image result for 5 starsReview: In the previous book, our hero was sucked into a portal leaving him in the dimensions of the Faceless Ones and possibly dead. It seemed he would be gone forever.
Although not if Valkyrie has anything to say about it!
However, the only way to get Skulduggery back is to find his skull, his real one (the one he’s currently wearing he won) and open up the portal again- its the only thing that will connect their world to Skulduggery.
Will she do it?
Is it dangerous?
The answer to both of these is yes.
But getting him back is not the only problem.
There’s also a group of villains who have formed some sort of revenge club- and a lot of the members have one person in mind to get revenge on….
Valkyrie Cain.
There’s drama, there’s fights (a seriously messy fight- not for the young or faint hearted reader), there’s love and there’s also a huge revelation. Thanks for that cliff hanger Mr Landy!
Of course, having Skulduggery back means that he uses his wits to make some of the villains seem really silly.
It’s not just Skulduggery who is rescued either- there are many of the team who find themselves in need of saving thanks to the Revenge Club. It’s not all doom and gloom for Valkyrie though, not only does she find out she’s getting a new sibling, she also finds love with Fletcher Renn (through a very sloppy and cringey kiss!)
But, now she knows something about her future- could things change?
I guess I’ll find out in the next book!
Thanks for reading!
