<!–The FINAL shocking, heart-wrenching book in the jaw-droppingly stupendous Skulduggery Pleasant series

Valkyrie. Darquesse. Stephanie. The world ain’t big enough for the three of them. The end will come…

The War of the Sanctuaries has been won, but it was not without its casualties. Following the loss of Valkyrie Cain, Skulduggery Pleasant must use any and all means to track down and stop Darquesse before she turns the world into a charred, lifeless cinder.

And so he draws together a team of soldiers, monster hunters, killers, criminals… and Valkyrie’s own murderous reflection.

The war may be over, but the final battle is about to begin. And not everyone gets out of here alive…

Review: Darquesse is here and she wants to stay.

When she and Valkyrie’s consciousness become separated, and vice versa,  she brings hell to the world.

It flits between Meek Ridge in a near but distant future, and Roarhaven in the then and now, swapping between tranquility and chaos. I honestly couldn’t put it down due to the fact it was fast paced and there was always something happening.

Casandra Pharos’ vision might just come true.

Out of the whole series, which is dark anyway, this is the darkest. It’s not just about a crazy sorceress, but the villain of a previous series is bought back in to help, as a hero. Melachonia St Clair, otherwise known as The Death Bringer.

Alongside Lord Vile- can Necromancy defeat Darquesse?

She’s not the only one, various other characters from the series, friends of Skulduggery and Valkyrie, stand against her in order to try and save the world.

Unfortunately this leaves Melissa, Desmond and Alice Edgley in the middle of it and very vulnerable. It leaves Valkyrie Cain to protect them.

At one point, I thought Skulduggery Pleasant was done for- and that wasn’t when Darquesse pulled him apart, but when he made a decision to give up a soul in order to stop the Accelerator from exploding and enhancing Darquesse’s powers.I thought he was going to sacrifice himself.

As did Valkyrie, telling him how she really feels about him. That she loves him.

As it turns out, he used someone else’s soul instead and makes fun of her for her statement.

(Might ship them a little bit but shhh)

There’s bloodshed, and death, and loss.

Lots of it.

Dying of the Light finalized a lot of the Skulduggery Pleasant universe, and in the end, we see Valkyrie Cain, as Stephenie Edgley, grown up and living her own life.

Then Skulduggery arrives at her door.

What happens next? That’s left up to the reader.

Thanks for reading!
